SERVICES

The Justice Strategies principals - Judith Greene and Kevin Pranis - have over 40 years of collective experience doing research and advocacy on sentencing and correctional policy, the political economy of incarceration, and the detention and imprisonment of immigrants. Aside from policy expertise, Justice Strategies principals also have extensive experience in campaign development, grassroots organizing and strategic communications - in short, an entire toolbox that we put at the disposal of our clients. The principals have represented their research findings before legislative committees and commissions, and at professional conferences and community forums across the country. They serve as a critical resource for the policymakers, mainstream media, and organizations working on policy reform at the state and national level.Among the services Justice Strategies has provided in the past year are:

  • A daily electronic justice clipping service for the Women's Prison Association
  • A groundbreaking national research report on the harmful impact of "drug-free zone" laws produced for The Justice Policy Institute.
  • A white paper for the Drug Policy Alliance on strategic opportunities for increasing the impact of sentencing and correctional reform efforts in Connecticut
  • Organization of a strategy and information session for advocates who work on sentencing reform and related criminal justice issues in seven states.
  • Design and documentation of a series of judicial focus groups convened by the Wisconsin Sentencing Commission to explore the potential impact of a legislative proposal to expand substance abuse treatment programs.
